Soft Fog, Ponderosa Pines, and Gambel Oaks
A hillside thick with tall ponderosa pines and colorful Gambel oak on a foggy autumn day. Southwestern Colorado.
REASON FOR REJECTION: All the ponderosa and juniper trees blend together, looking like indistinct green blobs. I like the idea but there isn't enough fog or light to suggest layers or separation. This is another example of a scene that I really wanted to work because I love the combination of elements. A year ago, I'd likely have included this photo because of an emotional attachment to it but am now trying to be more objective in making the assessment that it does not work as well as I wanted it to work.
