Ponderosa, Juniper, and Oaks
A ponderosa, junipers, Gambel oaks, and sage on a rainy autumn day in southwestern Colorado's San Juan Mountains.
REASON FOR REJECTION: I like this photo but do not think the shape of the ponderosa (the tallest tree) or the two rounded junipers makes for an interesting enough midground. The Gambel oaks (the yellow shrubs) are also kind of tattered and bare. It all feels a little messy. I do like how the shaft of rain separates the background and midground while hinting at the mountains. There just is not enough for this to pass the "Would I post this on Instagram?" test.
