Compex Lifecycle
Aspen rust, a fungal disease, caused green leaves to drop in early autumn. Near Telluride, Colorado.
REASON FOR REJECTION: An interesting subject! The dark blocky shapes in the middle came to feel unbalanced and unappealing as I continued to view this photo. If the dark blocky shapes extended more equally across the frame, I think this would have worked better (or maybe not - I don't know if I like the mix of colors enough in the first place). I tried a few different compositions but there are only so many options when working with a subject the size of an aspen leaf! Photo © copyright by Sarah Marino and Ron Coscorrosa.
