Frosty Birches and Grasses
Frost-covered dwarf birches and grasses in autumn. Southwestern Colorado.
REASON FOR REJECTION: Another photo I wanted to work! I have been trying to get a cohesive photo of a scene like this from this spot for years now, and failed again! Even with the frost and pretty colors, I do not think there is enough in terms of a focal point or structure for this composition. The shrubs feel messy without anything to settle on (except one dark shadowy area, which doesn't help). The frost and twilight light also leaves a cyan cast on the grasses, which I'd need to address if I decided to use this photo for anything. I'll continue trying because I love the idea, just not the execution! Photo © copyright by Sarah Marino and Ron Coscorrosa.
