Yosemite National Park is well-known for its iconic views, many of which are impressive and deserve the attention they receive. While it can be enjoyable to occasionally share the experience of photographing those icons with many other people, I also like to turn my attention to the smaller details of the park’s landscape including subjects like ice, the flow of the Merced River, tree bark, mushrooms, rocks, and the other subjects you will see below. One benefit of all the tourist infrastructure in Yosemite Valley is the extensive network of trails, making it easy to find many quiet access points to the Merced River and other lovely pockets of the landscape away from the crowds.
