Olympic National Park presents three distinct personalities: the dynamic coast, the quiet forests, and the higher alpine landscapes. This photo portfolio focuses on the first two, with attention to both the grander landscapes and smaller scenes offered up by the park's scenery. I find the coastal landscapes to be both inspiring and photographically productive, whereas the thick chaos of the forests offers a different experience. The inspiration is still present, arising in particular from all the beautiful small plants and fungi that call these forests home, but the photography is much harder. This duality makes the Olympic landscape a place I want to return to again and again, both because I love photographing it but also because I want another chance to do better with another try.
