Wildlife photography is both easy and hard. Capturing a sharp photo of an animal with its eyes in focus is easy if you have good equipment and a passing familiarity with your camera and auto-focus settings. It's hard, though, to do more than that, to elevate the capture to something beyond a simple portrait, to use the animals as compositional elements in a larger setting and to capture them and their environment in a way that tells a larger story. I feel like most wildlife photography - including mine - is the easy kind. You'll know the the good kind when you see it. That being said - I still enjoy doing it - and like my bird photography, it is largely opportunistic and not the goal of a photography outing.
