Plant Oils

Oil and water don't mix, and for these kind of photographs, we don't want them to! The thin film of oil forming from decaying organic matter likes leaves, that gently floats on the water, reveals fascinating colors and patterns. These patterns are not visible unless the light is reflecting in the pool just right, and as such, these are often tricky to photograph. A long telephoto lens (500mm or longer) with focus stacking makes it easier then ever before, but I didn't have such luxuries when all of these were photographed.
