Phoning it In
January 9, 2026
Written by Ron Coscorrosa
I have just released a new gallery of old (and new) photos. The catch? They were all taken with my phone. You can see the full Phoning It In gallery here or a selection of the photographs below. The gallery page sums up my thoughts which I will repeat here:
Someone once said, "the best camera is the one you have with you." This is obviously incorrect---the best camera is the one three miles away in the trunk of your car that cost five thousand dollars. The most convenient camera is the one you have with you, and this gallery is a collection of such convenient photographs of a rather haphazard variety of subjects. All photographs here were taken with my phone (an iPhone 12 or 16, depending on the year) in RAW mode, while my best camera was absent due to circumstances, laziness, or, most often, lazy circumstances. Don't ever let anyone tell you that you need an expensive camera to take compelling photographs, it's just way better and easier and also better.
